How Has Debbie Wallace Consulting Helped Others Achieve Success?

Segmentation and Cost Containment Improve Profits and Confidence

Located in Northern California, DripWorks provides quality drip irrigation supplies and equipment that save water, time, and money. In 2001, the company was investing a lot of money in catalog production and distribution but did not have the tools to assess the profitability of their campaigns. They hired Debbie Wallace Consulting to help them evaluate their marketing efforts and recommend more efficient and effective processes for their circulation department.

According to DripWorks Marketing Director Doug Shald, “Debbie Wallace Consulting helped us collect the numbers we needed, analyzed the results, and advised us on how to interpret and use the results to develop more profitable campaigns.”

Debbie Wallace Consulting helped DripWorks improve their campaigns by

  • Using square-inch analysis to determine which products to cut and which to highlight;
  • Leveraging the strengths of internet and print catalogs to improve multi-channel success;·
  • Reducing paper, printing, and postage costsbased on production cost analysis;·
  • Uncovering nearly $2,000 in refundable printing fees through expense analysis;
  • Improving segmentation by identifying and correcting miscoded customer profiles.

According to Shald, “Debbie Wallace Consulting has helped DripWorks become completely efficient.” Lower production costs, accurate
customer segmentation, and better analytic tools enable DripWorks to save money and make marketing decisions that promise a healthy return on their investment.

Custom Calculator Takes the Guessworkout of Costing

Rosemira manufactures distinctive skin care products using a variety of essential oils and herbs. With a pinch of this and a teaspoon of
that used in each product, owner Dr. Mira Herman struggled to keep track of ingredient costs and consistently undercharged for her products. In 2011, she hired Debbie Wallace Consulting to develop an affordable system for tracking expenses and calculating prices.

Debbie Wallace Consulting used a complex Excel workbook to design a custom cost calculator based on an online menu-pricing model. She
populated the calculator with the current costs of over 100 raw ingredients, which were listed by vendor and unit price. For each product, Dr. Herman could use the calculator to add up ingredient and overhead costs and determine a profitable price.

According to Dr. Herman, “Before working with Debbie Wallace Consulting, I was just guessing what my price should be based on what the
market could bear. Knowing what my costs are and how much I need to charge in order to keep my business profitable really puts me at ease.”

The calculator is a dynamic tool that enables Dr. Herman to develop new formulations and adjust older ones over time. Using the calculator, Dr. Herman knows exactly how much each of her products costs to manufacture. She has since raised some of her prices and makes a profit on all of her products as a result.
